OUR STORY
Jacks was founded in 1971 by Jack Balahtsis, a Greek immigrant who came to America with an entrepreneurial spirit and a simple belief: build a business on honesty, quality, exceptional service and fair prices, and customers will keep coming back.
More than 55 years later, those values still guide us. When Jack retired in 2012, he handed the reins to his children, Steve Balahtsis and Dede Dean, who continue to lead the company today. Now, with the third generation actively involved in the business and helping shape its future, Jacks remains proudly family owned and operated. We've grown considerably since 1971, but the principles Jack built the company on haven't changed.

From our Ohio headquarters, Jacks serves equine and pet retailers throughout the United States and around the world.
With more than 10,000 SKUs, we offer an extensive selection of products backed by decades of industry knowledge, competitive pricing and the fast, dependable shipping our customers have come to expect. In addition to distributing thousands of products from leading manufacturers, Jacks proudly owns, manufactures and develops some of the most recognized tradenames and trademarks in the industry, including 5/A Baker®, Enjoy Yums, Eplugs, Featherweight®, McTarnahans®, Prorap® and Sealtex®. We continue to invest in new products, manufacturing, partnerships and innovation while remaining focused on what matters most: providing exceptional products and taking care of our customers.
